Howdy Fans,
Here is Heza , spokes horse for Desert Mountain Trails, speaking again. Mom told me to write another newsletter again before we get too busy again over the summer.
First of all, mom’s plan on keeping our numbers stables by gelding myself and Spotsie worked. There were no foals born here at the ranch this year. Our dad Alabaz did sire one foal this year though , out of a sorrel Quarter Horse mare owned by Tom Carl. And she is a cutie. Wrangler Tony’s mare Ash also had a cute Palomino filly end of April also. You can find pictures of them on our News page. Also Princess is in Apache junction now with her new best friend and Sheza went to California in March.
Other than that it was a pretty uneventful and mild winter. Spotsie, Bo, Azi and Sandie got to go to Safford this winter for the 3 day Endurance ride there. All 4 of them had a great time. Spotsie, Bo and Sheza went to the Old Pueblo 3 day Endurance ride. Spotsie says he is starting to enjoy trotting those 50 miles at a nice and easy pace. No rush he says. Bo did her first 55 miler coming in 13 th and really loved it, she says. Spotsie and Sheza did a nice and easy 25 miler the last day.
The first trail of the season started out with a crazy snow storm at Picket Post. And ended at the salt river with temperatures in the 90’s. It seems to have been a total success again. Maybe I get to go swimming on the next one in the fall too. I heard that's great. There is even a herd of wild horses down there.
Mom just got back from the Prescott Chapparal ride in Skull Valley. Temperatures got pretty warm, in the upper 90’s during the day. But brother Spotsie kept cool and finished 20 th out of 60. Bo did another 55 miler with ease coming in 15 th out of 60 riders and boy was she proud of herself when she got back. Azi finished off the 3 rd day with an easy 25 miler.
So much for the fun part. Back to business. Spring and summer trails are starting back up and I just heard that things have changed in regards to the Monument Valley rides. We'll be doing them this year again. So mom and dad said they are willing to take on more than six people to give you all a chance to go on the last two week Monument Valley rides. So if you you wanna join us on our last Monument Valley trail adventure contact us asap. The dates are back on the website. Let's ride!!!!!
Mom said that sofar we don't have anyone scheduled to take care of the ranch and horses while the work crew is gone. So she told me to ask around if anyone is interested in staying here with the vacation crew for 4-6 weeks in august and september. If you are interested let my mom know.
Other than that we do have a few openings left for the fall trails. Mom says we most likely will be continuing the reduced number of trails next year similar to this years schedule less the Monument Valley trail.
Mom still has a couple of Endurance rides planned for us this year in between the trails. And I hope to go on one of them myself so I can show Bo how it’s done.
There will be a calendar available by the end of the year again. And if mom finds the time maybe a short version of the trail book about us may be available. Let’s see.
Check out our news page as well as the individual horse pages mom keeps updating with all the new pictures. Mom is constantly putting more pictures on her smugmug site so check that one out also by clicking on the Desert pictures button on the top.
As for now we all at DMT wish everyone a nice summer.
HAPPY TRAILS!!!!!!!!
